The lion''s share of this year''s Golden Kite Awards, Viet Nam
Cinematography Association''s version of the Oscars, will likely go to
blockbuster favourites but other contenders aren''t out of the running
this March 12.
Nguyen Khac Duy, a graduate of the HCM City University of Theatre and
Cinematography, will make his stage debut next week with an adaptation
of a Broadway musical.
Directors of plays that dealt creatively with social issues even as they
entertained the audience were recognised with several awards at a
cememony held recently at the HCM City Theatre and Cinematography
University.
Fourteen films, including 12 commercial features,
have been nominated for the annual Golden Kite awards organised by the
Viet Nam Cinematography Association in HCM City.
The action film Ranh Gioi Trang Den (Boundary of
Black and White), which marks the first co-operation between the
Vietnamese and Indonesian film industries, will hit screens on July 6.
